How to get hired in fintech company ?
Employment in a fintech company has recently become a hot topic often discussed with colleagues & friends. For all who may be interested to become a part of the fintech team i’ll share some thoughts about it.
In a fintech business, recruiting is different from interviewing in other sectors. First of all, often you will be interviewed directly by the founder — it happens in a start-up, something that doesn’t usually happen in bigger, more developed companies. As a consequence, you might find the questions that you are asked to be slightly different.
Here are some examples of what you might be asked during an interview by a fintech founder:
- What is the best advice that you have ever received?
You need to be freely creative while employed in an industry such as fintech (goes with the job), but still able to accept advice, feedback, and constructive criticism. So don’t be shocked if you’re asked by a founder to share any of the best advice that you’ve learned recently. For them, it’s a perfect way to evaluate how sensitive you are to feedback, and what messages really stay with you and have an impact.
- How would you make our product better?
Once you respond to this, note that the person asking the question is the company’s owner. So yeah, be critical, just don’t overdo it. Many businesses are not only searching for someone who can keep things on track — they want someone to innovate. Yes, that’s what it’s about in the fintech industry, right? With creativity!
- Why THIS company ?
Actually, this can be a very tricky one but your answer can really mean a lot. You have to note that if you’re being questioned by the company’s owner, then you’re questioning the company’s most enthusiastic person. That person sitting in front of you eats, sleeps, and breathes the company for which you are interviewing more than definitely, so make sure you are excited about why you are there in the first place. Do your homework, learn about the principles and plans of the business, and discuss why they excite you.

- To characterize yourself, what three words will you use?
Yeah, though a little cliche, it is possible that at some stage during the interview you will be asked this question (or something similar). With your response, be thoughtful. In relation to the function, it should make sense. If you apply for a marketing job, think about it and define yourself as innovative, it will look fantastic. It does not make sense if you are applying for an HR job and you describe yourself as creative (whether you are, in fact, a creative person or not).
- What is your next move if you’re unsuccessful here?
This is still a concern that is important. Your response will give the interviewer an idea just what kind of person you are and how you cope with adversity, and the kind of insight you have. There are peaks and lows when you work in Fintech (and indeed in every tech industry), just as in life. As a part of the squad, how you deal with those dips will be the making of you. React closely, make sure you have a plan B.
